Iran halts attacks on Israel, threatens retaliation if Lebanon is bombed again

Istanbul/Jerusalem (ANTARA) - The Iranian government announced on Monday the end of its attacks against Israel, but with threats of a severe response if Israel attacks Lebanon again. “Following the brutal aggression and crimes of the Zionist regime in southern Lebanon and the Dahieh area, which took place with the support of criminal America, the mighty armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran launched a painful response against the regime,” stated the Khatam Al-Anbiya Headquarters. As reported by the Tasnim news agency, the Iranian armed forces stated that Israel and its supporters “should have learned” a lesson from Tehran’s response, which was carried out “to support the oppressed people of Lebanon.” “Thus, the end of the armed forces’ operation is announced,” the statement read. However, they warned that if Israeli aggression continues, particularly in southern Lebanon, then “far more severe and destructive actions await.” Previously, tensions escalated on Sunday after Israel bombed Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, despite a ceasefire being in effect. The attack triggered a retaliation from Iran, which launched missile strikes into northern Israel, with Zionist forces conducting similar actions against Iran. The Israeli newspaper Hayom reported that Tel Aviv and Washington conveyed a message to Tehran that there would be no further attacks from Israel if Iran does not continue its strikes. Meanwhile, via the Truth Social platform on Monday morning, US President Donald Trump called for Israel and Iran to “immediately” cease hostilities following the exchange of attacks.
