Iran Goes on the Rampage, Attacks Several US Embassies in the Gulf Region
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The wave of attacks against United States diplomatic missions in the Gulf region is growing more worrying. In recent days, several US embassies and consulates have been reported as targets of drone strikes amid the escalating tension between Iran and the groups it backs.
Based on documents from the United States Department of State, reviewed by internal sources and shared with MS NOW, the attacks occurred almost simultaneously in several Gulf states.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), authorities in Dubai said the drone-related incident triggered a fire near the US Consulate on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, local time. The fire was swiftly extinguished and there were no injuries.
Meanwhile in Kuwait, a drone struck the compound of the US Embassy. Although there were no casualties, the documents said all personnel were confirmed safe. The subsequent threats prompted the US State Department to approve the evacuation of more than 200 staff and family members from several diplomatic posts in the region.
The most severe situation occurred in Saudi Arabia. The US Embassy in Riyadh was reported to have suffered significant damage due to the drone attack on Monday. The attack caused the embassy’s communications to be disrupted. Fortunately, there were no casualties as the building had already been evacuated in advance.
“Threats originating from Iran and the Iran-backed groups are now directly targeting US diplomatic interests in the region,” the summary of the document said.
To date, the US State Department or the affected embassies have not issued an official public statement. However, this string of attacks underscores the rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with Iran deemed to be increasingly pressuring the US through indirect attacks in various Gulf states.
