Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has forcefully condemned the latest US strikes on the country’s southern coast, calling the attack a ‘brutal’ violation of a ceasefire outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding. The ministry stated the strikes demonstrate that the United States ‘utterly disregards its commitments’, adding that ‘breaking promises is part of this regime’s nature’.

Earlier, US Central Command announced that Navy and Air Force jets struck 10 Iranian military targets in and near the Strait of Hormuz. The operation was described as a response to an Iranian drone attack on the commercial tanker Kiku. The US military said the latest response targeted ‘surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defence sites, drone storage facilities, and minelaying capabilities’.

Iranian media reported several explosions in the southern areas of Sirik and Qeshm. Following the US strikes, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had targeted US facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait with missiles and drones. The Foreign Ministry statement on Sunday reiterated ‘the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity against US military aggression’.
