Meanwhile, Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that the IRGC Navy fired warning shots at an ‘American oil tanker’, forcing it to turn back. ‘As a response,’ Tasnim stated, the US military ‘fired into barren areas near Bandar Abbas, a strategic port city where explosions were reported early Thursday local time,’ according to Tasnim. Iranian media described the incident as a response to a US military strike targeting locations near the Strait of Hormuz early Thursday. US Military Strikes Iran The US military conducted a new strike in Iran early Thursday. The attack targeted locations near the Strait of Hormuz posing a threat to US forces and commercial traffic, according to a US official. A US official told CNN that the US military shot down four Iranian drones. US forces also reportedly attacked an Iranian ground control station in Bandar Abbas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone. Meanwhile, CNN has requested comment from US Central Command regarding Iranian media reports that the US strike was a response to Iranian actions. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which monitors shipping in the waterways, has not reported any incidents involving the ships allegedly shot at.
