Iran Enraged! Khamenei Promises Unforgettable Retaliation Against US
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has ensured that the United States (US) will receive what he described as an unforgettable retaliation following a US military strike in Iran’s Hormozgan Province, which killed four people during a wedding ceremony.
The attack reportedly occurred on Tuesday (1/9), when a US military missile struck a house near the coastal town of Sirik, Hormozgan Province. At the time of the incident, the house was being used to host a wedding celebration.
According to Iranian authorities, the attack killed four people, including a toddler, and left more than 50 others injured. Iran stated that debris from the US-launched missile hit a residential home in Kuhestak City, Sirik region, which was the site of the wedding festivities.
Responding to the incident, Mojtaba Khamenei emphasised that Iran would respond to the United States. He stated that the retaliatory strike to be carried out by Tehran would serve as a lesson that Washington would not easily forget.
“The beloved Iranian nation and the axis of resistance will teach an unforgettable lesson to America,” said Mojtaba, as reported by Tasnim media on Wednesday (2/9).
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also declared its readiness to retaliate against the recent series of attacks linked to the United States. IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebi warned that Washington would face heavy consequences for the strikes.
“They will regret their new attacks. Severe punishment awaits the aggressors,” said Hossein Mohebi.
Iran subsequently responded to the US attacks by launching missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) strikes, which were claimed to target several US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. Additionally, the IRGC stated it conducted coordinated missile and drone attacks against US bases in Erbil, in the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq.
According to IRGC claims, the attacks on facilities in Erbil destroyed a maintenance centre, several warehouses, and aerostat reconnaissance guidance systems used by the United States.
Tensions between Tehran and Washington have escalated once again following this series of attacks. Iran has asserted it will continue to retaliate, while the IRGC warned of heavy consequences for those it labelled as aggressors.
On the night before 18 June, Tehran and Washington had signed a memorandum to ensure an end to the conflict that began on 28 February.
The IRGC also claimed to have damaged two US helicopters and attacked military personnel centres, resulting in casualties. Furthermore, the Iranian military reportedly shot down a US MQ-9 drone.
