Iran Enraged Following US Attack on Qeshm Island
Tehran has condemned the United States’ attack on Qeshm Island and an Iranian tanker, reaffirming Iran’s right to self-defence, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday. The Ministry also alleged that Kuwait and Bahrain were involved in the incident.
“The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemns the aggressive military actions of the United States, which attacked an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and launched attacks from regional territories against a communication tower on Qeshm Island on Wednesday,” the Ministry stated. The Ministry further reminded the international community that Iran possesses the right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity using all available means.
In its statement, Iran also asserted the direct responsibility of Kuwait and Bahrain regarding the incident. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has emphasised its legitimate right to take retaliatory action against any violations of the ceasefire by the US military. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Rupiah closed weaker at Rp17,382 per US dollar on Friday due to the rising geopolitical tensions following the US military strikes on Iran.
