Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran is drafting a possible agreement with the United States, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said on Monday, whilst dismissing claims of an interim deal.

“We are currently at the stage of formulating our position,” Baghaei said at a press conference.

Baghaei described various reports on the Iran-US negotiations as speculation, stating that claims of an interim agreement with Washington “have no factual basis”.

The second round of Iran-US nuclear talks took place in Geneva on 17 February, mediated by Oman.

Following those talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that progress had been made. He also noted that Tehran and Washington would draft a document that could potentially serve as the basis for an agreement.

The next round of US-Iran negotiations will be held in Geneva on 26 February, according to Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, as his country continues its role as mediator in the talks.
