US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran gave a gift by allowing several ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps accused Trump of lying.

“This morning, following the false statement from the corrupt US President claiming that the Strait of Hormuz is open, three container ships from various countries moved towards the designated corridor for permitted shipping traffic but were turned back after warnings from the IRGC Navy,” the IRGC said in a social media post, quoted by CBS News on Friday (27/3/2026).

The IRGC Navy reaffirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is closed. It stated that anyone attempting to cross it would face firm action.

“The Strait of Hormuz is closed and any traffic passing through it will face a harsh response,” the IRGC stated.

“Any ship journey ‘to and from’ ports owned by allies and supporters of the Zionist-American enemy, to any destination and through any corridor, is prohibited,” it added.

Quoted by Reuters, Trump claimed on Thursday that Iran allowed 10 oil tankers to cross the Strait of Hormuz as a sign of goodwill in negotiations. Trump made the comment during a Cabinet meeting at the White House, further explaining what he had previously described as a ‘gift’ from Iran.

“They said, to show you that we are real and solid and we are there, we will give you eight oil ships, eight ships, eight big ships full of oil,” Trump said.

“I think they are right, and the ships are real, and I think the ships are flagged under Pakistan… It turns out the number is 10 ships,” Trump added.
