Tehran, Tuesday (29/09/2026) — Iran has denied reports from the Saudi Arabian media outlet Al Hadath, which cited Pakistani sources claiming that Tehran had agreed to a temporary suspension of its uranium enrichment programme in exchange for the lifting of sanctions by the United States. As reported by Fars News, Tehran emphasised that reports suggesting Iran would be flexible regarding its nuclear programme are “not true” and that their position remains unchanged.

Al Hadath reported that Iran had agreed to delay uranium enrichment in return for the removal of sanctions. However, Iranian officials asserted that there are currently no discussions regarding nuclear issues.

Sources among Iranian officials also accused the Trump administration of utilising Pakistani officials to manipulate markets through false reports. Meanwhile, another official, quoted by Press TV, stated that the US is currently “trapped in the Strait of Hormuz and is raising the nuclear issue to divert attention from that matter.”

Last Friday, Iran declared that Tehran is no longer negotiating on its nuclear programme, asserting that it will not make any concessions regarding uranium enrichment or send enriched uranium out of the country.

Iran seeks for the US to return to the memorandum of understanding reached last June, which included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and plans to initiate nuclear negotiations in exchange for several steps, including sanctions relief, the unfreezing of billions of dollars in Iranian funds held abroad, and the cessation of the US blockade.

However, US officials have stated that Trump no longer wishes to return to that agreement. The US has also tightened sanctions and maintained its blockade against Iran.
