Iran Denies Negotiating with the US
Senior parliamentary officials in Iran have firmly denied any negotiations with the United States. This statement also serves as a stern warning to any country that allows its territory or bases to be used for attacking Iran.
Spokesperson for Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ebrahim Rezaei, conveyed this after holding a meeting with military and defence officials to discuss battlefield operations against the US and Israel.
Rezaei’s statement directly refutes the claim by US President Donald Trump, who previously stated that Iranian officials wanted to negotiate but were “not ready yet.”
“We are not negotiating with the United States,” Rezaei asserted on Thursday (19/3/2026). He added that any country opening its territory or bases to enemy forces in any form would be immediately regarded as an enemy by Tehran.
Amid the escalation of conflict, Rezaei assured that security on Kharg Island, Iran’s vital energy export hub, has been restored. He emphasised that oil export activities continue unabated.
Previously, Donald Trump claimed that US airstrikes had destroyed most military facilities on the island but deliberately spared the oil infrastructure to maintain market stability.
The joint US-Israel attacks on Iran, which began on 28 February 2026, are reported to have claimed around 1,300 lives. Among the fatalities was Iran’s Supreme Leader at the time, Ali Khamenei.
In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, and Iraq. The targets also include Gulf states hosting US military assets as a form of counter-pressure against the coalition.
