The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has strongly denied allegations of secret talks between the Iranian military and the United States. The statement also refutes US President Donald Trump’s claim of back-channel communications between the two countries.

IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohabbi, in an interview with Tasnim news agency, asserted that there have been no covert discussions whatsoever between IRGC officials and the US regarding war-related issues. Mohabbi described Trump’s statement as a ‘lie’ born of ‘hallucinations and nightmares resulting from defeat and helplessness in warfare’.

He stressed that the IRGC is ‘the arm and tongue of the power of the Iranian people and the Islamic Republic’. According to him, the IRGC conveys its position directly on the battlefield, while diplomatic affairs are handled by other institutions within the government.

Mohabbi added that available information, along with confirmation from officials at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicates that no talks are currently taking place with Washington. This is driven by ‘broken promises and bitter experiences’ resulting from repeated violations of commitments by the US side.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei also firmly denied US media reports claiming unofficial contact with the IRGC through Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, including claims of a secret Iran-US meeting in Erbil.

Baghaei asserted that the reports are ‘entirely fabricated’ and part of ‘psychological operations and malicious media tactics aimed at dividing decision-making institutions’.

He confirmed that Iran’s negotiating team enjoys the full trust of all elements of the system and the country’s defence sector. According to him, cohesion among relevant sectors over the past six months has been the best and unprecedented.

Decision-making in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Baghaei continued, is carried out through institutional mechanisms that take into account all national and sovereignty considerations. ‘Our armed forces are ready to act at any time,’ Baghaei asserted.
