The United States and Iran have agreed to end the war. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated his country’s commitment to the agreement will take effect once the document is signed by both nations. “The text of the memorandum of understanding has been finalised, and the official signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding will take place in Switzerland on Friday,” Kazem Gharibabadi told state media. “Our commitment will take effect starting Friday,” Gharibabadi stressed. Gharibabadi said two matters will come into force following the peace agreement between Iran and the US. Firstly, the cessation of war in all Iranian territories, including what is occurring in Lebanon. Additionally, the peace deal signifies the end of the blockade imposed by the US military in the Strait of Hormuz. “Two things will take effect immediately starting this morning,” he said. “First, the permanent and immediate cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon. Second, the revocation and cessation of the naval blockade imposed by the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Gharibabadi added. He explained the memorandum of understanding reached between the US and Iran was not solely the result of diplomatic efforts, but also what he described as Iran’s “military achievement.” Gharibabadi called the peace agreement a victory for Iran. “The enemy that attacked to carry out its evil objectives has been defeated in all its aims, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has won a great victory in the war,” Gharibabadi stated. US President Donald Trump confirmed a peace deal with Iran had been reached. The US military blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is now officially over. “I hereby fully authorise the opening of the Strait of Hormuz without toll charges, and, simultaneously, authorise the immediate lifting of the United States Navy blockade,” Trump wrote. “Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” Trump continued. Trump’s announcement came shortly after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Iran and the US had agreed to peace. On his Truth Social platform, Trump confirmed the news and said all documents for the peace agreement with Iran had been agreed upon. “The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now done. Congratulations to all!” Trump said.
