Tehran - The Iranian government will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in accordance with the same principles, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday. Earlier the same day, US Vice President JD Vance said IAEA inspectors planned to visit Iran as early as this week. “Cooperation with the IAEA will continue in line with Iran’s obligations under the safeguards agreement with the IAEA, in accordance with existing procedures and consistent with the resolution of Parliament and the decision of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council,” Baghaei told Iranian news agency IRNA. There are no nuclear negotiations in the talks between Iran and the US held in Switzerland, IRNA reported, citing a source familiar with the information. At the same time, Baghaei previously said that IAEA access to Iran’s bombed nuclear facilities would depend on the outcome of talks with the US. The IAEA still has access to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. Following the US attack on nuclear facilities in June 2025, Iran restricted cooperation with the IAEA and access to nuclear facilities, stating that all decisions regarding cooperation with the organisation are made by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
