Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia has called upon the international community and the United Nations to take immediate and decisive action to de-escalate the situation following attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran, and Iran’s retaliatory strikes on several Western Asian countries.

Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a communiqué issued in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday that Malaysia strongly condemns all forms of attacks against Iran and Iran’s retaliatory attacks targeting multiple Western Asian countries including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar.

Malaysia believes the international community and the United Nations must actively and promptly engage in efforts to de-escalate the situation and restore peace and stability in the region.

According to Malaysia, the attacks that have occurred violate the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the prohibition on the use of force as set out in the United Nations Charter and international law.

Unilateral military actions of this nature risk further destabilising an already fragile region and endanger the safety of civilians.

“At this critical moment, all parties must exercise maximum restraint to prevent further escalation that could shake regional stability and bring about wider global repercussions,” the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Malaysia has reaffirmed that all disputes must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, with full respect for international law.

In response to the attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran and Iran’s retaliatory strikes on American military bases in several Western Asian countries, Malaysia has urged its citizens in those countries to remain calm, avoid dangerous areas, and remain vigilant regarding developments in the situation.

Malaysia, through its diplomatic representatives in those countries, has stated it will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of its citizens.
