Iran Confirms Death of Military Commander Soleimani Killed by Israel
Iranian state media has confirmed the death of military commander Gholamreza Soleimani in an attack launched by the United States and Israel.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf referred to Soleimani as a “noble general” and stated that he had “achieved martyrdom in the struggle against the most evil enemies of humanity”, alongside his deputy and several other soldiers.
In a separate statement, the Basij media wing said Soleimani’s death represented the loss of an inspirational pillar and field leader who had guided the movement’s path with strategic vision, jihadi spirit, and deep faith in the role of the people.
Previously, the Israeli military had claimed responsibility for the death of Gholamreza Soleimani.
In the latest brutal Israeli assault, Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani has also been reported killed. This further closes the door to de-escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
