Iran Condemns US and Israeli Strikes, Urges UN Security Council to Act Immediately
Tensions in the Middle East have reached a critical point following air strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iranian territory on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta has formally condemned the action as a clear violation of national sovereignty.
According to the Embassy’s official statement, the aggressive strikes targeted civilian locations and vital infrastructure in the capital Tehran and several other cities. Iran asserts that the action constitutes a grave violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter.
“The actions of Washington and Tel Aviv represent a serious threat to regional and international peace and security,” the statement read.
In response to the military aggression, the Islamic Republic of Iran has stated it will exercise its legitimate right to self-defence in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. Iran’s Armed Forces are certain to deliver a firm and strong response to preserve the country’s territorial integrity.
As a founding member of the UN, Iran has also urged the UN Security Council not to remain silent. It has called on the President and Members of the Security Council to take concrete steps immediately to stop this violation of international peace.
“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia hopes that the Indonesian Government and people, political leaders, religious and Islamic organisations, academics, and media professionals will firmly and openly condemn the outbreak of war and aggression against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement concluded.
