Iran Condemns UN Security Council Resolution, Calling US-Israel the True Aggressors
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, issued a stark warning regarding the credibility of the UN Security Council. Iran views a draft resolution supported by Gulf Cooperation Council nations concerning attacks in the region as a biased measure that rewards the true aggressors: the United States and Israel.
At a press conference at UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, local time, Iravani stated that the resolution text unilaterally condemns Iranian missile and drone attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Jordan, whilst turning a blind eye to military aggression against Iranian sovereignty.
Iravani highlighted the imbalance in the draft, set to be put to a vote on Wednesday. According to him, there is a systematic effort by certain council members to reverse the positions of victim and perpetrator of aggression.
“Such action, if adopted, would be highly damaging and would undermine the credibility and legitimacy of the Security Council. The aggressors, namely Israel and the United States, would be rewarded and encouraged to commit further acts of aggression,” Iravani stated firmly.
Iravani also detailed the destructive impact of US and Israeli military operations that began on 28 February. He accused the alliance of carrying out discriminatory attacks targeting civilians and public facilities in various Iranian cities.
“These figures continue to rise daily as the United States and Israel continue military attacks against various cities in Iran,” Iravani added.
Furthermore, Iravani warned that tolerance for violations of international law in Iran would set a dangerous precedent for the sovereignty of other nations in the future. He called on the international community to immediately stop military escalation targeting the Iranian people.
“Today it is Iran. Tomorrow, it could be another sovereign nation. The international community must act now to halt this bloody conflict,” he concluded.
