Iran Condemns Repeated US Acts of Aggression

The United Nations (ANTARA) - Iran has written to the United Nations to condemn ‘in the strongest terms the repeated acts of aggression’ and ongoing violations by the United States of the United Nations Charter and other applicable rules of international law. In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the Security Council for July, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, said on Wednesday (8/7) that the US had once again launched a large-scale military attack against a number of installations in southern Iran. ‘The continuation of these acts of aggression constitutes yet another flagrant violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter and a material breach of paragraph 1 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,’ he said. The deliberate targeting of civilian facilities, coupled with the continued unlawful use of force against Iran, ‘constitutes a serious threat to international peace and security and further demonstrates the United States’ total disregard for its international legal obligations,’ the representative said. Iran, Iravani stated, reaffirms that the US bears full and absolute responsibility for all consequences arising from the unlawful use of force and for the serious threat its illegal actions pose to international peace and security.
