REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN— The spokesperson for Iran’s Central Headquarters Khatam al-Anbiya stated that control over the Strait of Hormuz has been closed again as before.

The headquarters, cited by Al Jazeera on Saturday (18/4/2026), emphasised that the strait is now under management and strict supervision by the Iranian Armed Forces.

He added that Iran had previously agreed, based on prior agreements within the framework of negotiations and in good faith, to allow a limited number of oil tankers and commercial ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz regularly.

The headquarters accused the United States of continuously committing what he called breaches of promises and carrying out piracy and maritime robbery under the pretext of blockades.

He explained that the tightening of control over the strait will continue unless the United States fully lifts restrictions on the freedom of navigation of ships to and from Iran.

Iranian Threats

Before the announcement on Saturday about the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran warned that if US warships obstruct ships coming from Iranian ports.
