Tehran (ANTARA) - Iranian government spokesperson, Fatemeey Mohajerani, stated on Wednesday (30/9) that her country has received a response from the United States regarding the seven-day plan proposed by Iran to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on the social media platform X, Mohajerani noted that Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced the receipt of the US proposal during a cabinet meeting held earlier on Wednesday.

Last Tuesday (22/9), on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York, Iran submitted to the US, through mediators, a proposed seven-day plan to cease hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

On 28 February, Israel and the US launched joint attacks against Tehran and other Iranian cities. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel as well as US bases and assets in the region. Iran also tightened its control over the Strait of Hormuz.

On 18 June, the US and Iran signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the cessation of war across all fronts in the region, including Lebanon.

Under the terms of the MoU, the two nations were scheduled to hold negotiations within a 60-day period to reach a final agreement. That timeframe expired on 17 August.

However, the future of these negotiations remains uncertain following a series of recent escalations between the two nations.
