Iran Claims Second Strike on Amazon Data Centre in Bahrain
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated it targeted a data centre belonging to US technology giant Amazon in Bahrain, marking the second such attack on the facility. The force ‘targeted and destroyed the intelligence data centre building belonging to the American company Amazon, which played a major role in supplying information to the American military that kills children,’ according to a statement broadcast by state television. Neither Amazon nor Bahraini authorities have yet commented on Iran’s claim. The IRGC had previously stated on Wednesday that it had targeted the same data centre.
Beyond the strikes on Jordan, Bahrain, and Erbil, Kuwait was also targeted in a separate wave of attacks. The Kuwaiti military reported that its air defence systems were actively intercepting Iranian drones and missiles. Iran’s armed forces stated they launched projectiles towards the Ali Al Salem Air Base, which is used by US forces.
The Iranian military issued a statement saying it had launched drones towards US bases in Jordan and Bahrain in response to American strikes on targets inside Iran. In Bahrain, targets included fuel storage tanks, large equipment warehouses, hangars, and residential complexes at Sheikh Isa Air Base—a site Iran described as a ‘terrorist’ US military base. Iran also struck aircraft shelters, maintenance hangars, and residential compounds at the US Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan.
Iran said these attacks were in retaliation for US strikes the previous night. The US targeted seven Iranian provinces, including the southern regions of Sistan-Baluchestan and Khuzestan, as well as central provinces. A health ministry spokesman told Fars news agency that the US strikes resulted in 55 confirmed deaths and 645 injuries. Khuzestan province in the southwest recorded the highest number of casualties, followed by the southern provinces of Hormozgan and Sistan-Baluchestan. Of the total injured, 586 have been discharged after treatment, while eight patients remain hospitalised, some requiring further surgery.
