Iran Claims Attacks on US Military Bases in Jordan, Bahrain

Iranian forces struck US positions at military bases located in Jordan and Bahrain, according to Iran’s military on Wednesday. “The Iranian army carried out drone attacks against US military installations and equipment warehouses at Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan,” read a military statement, as cited by state broadcaster IRIB. It was also reported that Iranian forces attacked large equipment warehouses and heavy aircraft maintenance hangars at Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Previously, Iran had also struck several radar sites located in Kuwait, according to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday (21/7). United States military forces launched several series of strikes against Iran starting from 8 July. US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed the strikes were in response to Iranian actions against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian forces subsequently retaliated by targeting US air bases in several Middle Eastern countries. On 9 July, US President Donald Trump stated that a previously agreed ceasefire with Iran was no longer in effect.
