Iran Claims Attacks on 21 US Military Targets in the Middle East

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed its forces attacked 21 American military targets in the Middle East region. The attacks were described as retaliation for the latest US airstrikes on southern Iran.

In an announcement reported by TRT World and Anadolu Agency on Wednesday (10/6/2026), the IRGC stated that airbases and naval bases housing US forces throughout the region had been attacked. The IRGC threatened to deploy heavier retaliatory measures if US military operations against Iran continue, emphasising that US forces would be responsible for the consequences.

The IRGC specifically announced on Wednesday (10/6), in a statement broadcast by Iranian state media, that a drone strike had been launched against the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. The IRGC also claimed to have shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone detected flying over Bushehr Province in the southern part of the country.

Simultaneously, the IRGC said its forces had launched a drone strike against the Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti military has confirmed the attack on its territory, reporting that its air defence systems successfully intercepted ‘hostile’ aerial targets.

Furthermore, the IRGC announced it had launched attacks on four locations within the Al-Azraq base complex in Jordan, including F-35 fighter jet hangars and a military command and control centre. The IRGC stated its attack in Jordan involved long-range missiles. The Jordanian Armed Forces reported on Wednesday (10/6) that its air defences intercepted and shot down five missiles launched from Iranian territory towards the al-Azraq area. The Jordanian military noted that debris from the interception operations fell inside the country’s territory but caused no injuries or material damage.

This escalation follows a recent barrage of US attacks on several locations in southern Iran, including Jask, Sirik, and Qeshm Island. The US announced its forces had struck 20 targets in Iranian territory, including telecommunications towers. US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, also announced that its forces had completed what they termed ‘self-defence’ strikes against Iran. CENTCOM said US fighter jets struck air defence systems, ground control stations, and Iranian surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz, in response to the downing of a US-operated Apache helicopter in a prior incident.
