Iran Attacks US Military Bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, Explosions Heard

The Kuwaiti and Bahraini militaries have reported that their territories faced new air strikes from Iran, targeting American military bases amid ongoing clashes between Washington and Tehran over control of the Strait of Hormuz. Explosions were heard near the Kuwaiti capital, Kuwait City.

According to reports, Iran targeted radar systems, air defence units, and fuel storage facilities at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Both Gulf nations stated that their air defences responded to the drone strikes, but accused the Islamic Republic of also targeting civilian areas.

The renewed hostilities have erupted despite a 60-day ceasefire agreement reached in June, which aimed to permanently end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The strategic waterway is a critical channel for Gulf oil and gas exports, and the latest fighting was triggered by Iranian actions against vessels transiting the strait.
