Iran Attacks Ukrainian Anti-Drone System Warehouse in Dubai, 21 Personnel Feared Dead
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the success of a military operation that destroyed a warehouse storing Ukrainian anti-drone systems in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday (28/3). This hybrid operation, involving the IRGC’s Air Force and Navy, has sparked concerns over the possible deaths of 21 Ukrainian personnel at the location.
The spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters stated that the attack coincided with strikes on the headquarters of US commanders and soldiers in Dubai. The warehouse is believed to have stored advanced air defence systems sent from Kyiv, intended to bolster US military forces and the UAE’s air defences.
“This operation successfully destroyed infrastructure related to the Ukrainian anti-drone system. We note that there were 21 Ukrainian citizens at the site, and as of now, there is no information regarding their fate; they are likely dead,” said the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian government has rejected Iran’s claims, accusing Tehran of lying about the attack on Ukrainian anti-drone systems in the Arab Emirates. “We officially deny this information,” stated spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgiy Tykhy.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is currently on a diplomatic visit to Gulf countries to offer his nation’s military expertise in intercepting missiles and drones. Zelensky previously confirmed via Telegram that a number of Ukrainian troops have been deployed to the UAE to assist in modernising the protection of critical infrastructure there.
“There is now a clear understanding of how to strengthen the sky protection system and critical infrastructure in the Emirates by integrating Ukrainian experience,” Zelensky wrote shortly before the reported attack.
In addition to the UAE, Zelensky recently signed a major defence agreement with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Friday (27/3) to bolster Riyadh’s air defences amid the US-Israel war against Iran, which has entered its second month.
