Tehran (ANTARA) - The Iranian military has stated it launched drone strikes against three United States military bases in Kuwait on Friday in retaliation for aggression by the superpower. “During the 25th phase of Operation Thunder, the Iranian army launched Arash drone strikes on the warehouses of the US terrorist army at Camp Al-Adairi, the US forces’ location at Camp Doha, and other enemy forces at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait,” read a statement cited by Iran’s national television station, IRIB. “This attack is in retaliation for the enemy’s aggression,” the statement added. Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum on the night of 18 June to end the war that began on 28 February. However, the US military resumed attacks on Iran on 8 July. US Central Command claimed the strikes were in response to Iranian actions against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military retaliated by attacking US bases in the Middle East and accused Washington of violating the ceasefire agreement. US President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire was no longer in effect.
