Iran Attacks Kuwaiti Power and Desalination Facilities Again, Sparking Fire

Istanbul - Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy stated that a power plant and water desalination facility were targeted in a new Iranian attack on Sunday, sparking a fire. The ministry, in a statement cited by state news agency KUNA, said this was the second Iranian attack targeting Kuwaiti electricity facilities. The attack affected a significant number of power generation units, the ministry said, adding that emergency response plans had been activated and authorities immediately took steps to control the impact. Kuwaiti authorities also reported a similar attack by Iran on Saturday. Earlier, the Iranian military, in a statement broadcast by state media IRIB, claimed to have launched a large-scale drone attack against two US military installations in Kuwait. The military said it had struck an ammunition depot at Camp Al Adiri, as well as Patriot missile systems and air defence radar installations at Ali Al Salem Air Base. Tensions in the Middle East have escalated in recent days after the United States launched strikes against Iran. In retaliation, Tehran attacked facilities and bases it claims are used by the US military in several countries across the region. The exchange of attacks between Washington and Tehran occurred despite both nations having signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding in June aimed at ending the conflict and achieving a lasting peace agreement.
