Iran Attacks Kurdish Groups in Iraq as the Conflict Widens

Iran’s military has confirmed air strikes against Kurdish groups in Iraq. The move is taken as a stern warning to separatist groups believed to be attempting to exploit the widening reach of the war.

Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported on Thursday morning (5 March) that the Iranian military was launching strike operations targeting ‘anti-Iran separatist forces’.

Although the exact locations were not specified, the report reinforced previous statements by senior Iranian security officials about decisive action against groups perceived to be trying to profit from the current ‘war mode’.

Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, warned parties seeking infiltration.
