TEHRAN — Iran’s armed forces have launched attacks against alleged headquarters of Israeli and US commanders, according to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) on Friday, 13 March 2026.

“Approximately 10 shelters and locations in the occupied territories, as well as three gathering points and US shelters in that region, have been identified and attacked with the objective of targeting US and Zionist commanders,” the IRGC stated in a release cited by the Fars news agency.

Iranian forces employed drones and missiles to attack seven locations in Tel Aviv, Israel, two targets in Rishon LeZion, south of Tel Aviv, and one in Shoham. Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan Air Base, as well as US military bases in Baghdad and Erbil in Iraq, were also struck.

The United States and Israel had previously launched attacks against targets in Iran, including Tehran, on 28 February, causing damage and civilian casualties. Those strikes resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran responded by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities across the Middle East.

The United States and Israel initially claimed their “preventive” strikes were necessary to counter perceived threats from Iran’s nuclear programme. However, they subsequently clarified that their objective was to effect regime change in Iran.
