Iran Asserts Latest Drone Attacks are Response to Israeli Ceasefire Violations
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia has stated that Iran’s latest military actions were a response to repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement in effect since 8 April 2026, as well as ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Iran.
In an official statement released on Monday (8/6), the Iranian Embassy accused Israel of continuing military actions deemed to violate the ceasefire, including cooperation with the United States in operations targeting Iranian interests. According to the statement, over the past two weeks, Israel and the United States were allegedly involved in attacks against ships and several Iranian targets in the southern region of the country. Iran also accused both nations of engaging in what they described as maritime piracy against the Iranian people.
In response to the situation, Iran stated that it has taken military steps based on the right to self-defence guaranteed under international law. The Iranian Embassy explained that on the night of Sunday (7/6), the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran launched attacks against several military targets in the occupied northern territories of Palestine.
According to the statement, these actions were carried out in the exercise of the inherent right to self-defence as stipulated in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. Iran also reaffirmed its commitment to defending its national security and state interests amidst rising regional tensions.
“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia, while reaffirming the strong determination of the Iranian nation to firmly defend its security and national interests wherever necessary, reminds that the ceasefire in Lebanon is an integral part of the ceasefire agreement dated 8 April 2026,” the official statement from the Iranian Embassy in Indonesia read on Monday (8/6).
In the same statement, Iran asserted that the United States bears direct responsibility for Israel’s ceasefire violations. “Therefore, the United States Government bears direct responsibility for various ceasefire violations committed by the Zionist regime and all the consequences arising from them, including any escalation of tension in the region,” it added.
Iran also warned that any new military action directed at Lebanon or Iranian territory would be met with a response from its armed forces. “The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia emphasises that any provocative and aggressive adventures by the Zionist regime against Lebanon or the Islamic Republic of Iran will be met with a firm, comprehensive, and devastating response from the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement concluded.
