Iran Announces Four Diplomats Killed in Israeli Strike on Lebanon
The Iranian government has announced that four of its diplomats were killed in an Israeli strike on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, two days ago. The Iranian government has disclosed the names of the diplomats.
According to Al Jazeera reporting on Wednesday 11 March 2026, the reaction from Iran’s leadership was one of deep anger over the killing of diplomats on sovereign territory, in what Iran describes as a “terrorist attack”.
“In the early hours of Sunday, 8 March 2026, the Israeli regime carried out a deliberate terrorist strike against the Ramada Hotel in Beirut, resulting in the killing and death of four diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations.
The Israeli military had previously claimed responsibility for the strike.
At that time, the Israeli military stated it had “carried out a precision strike targeting key commanders of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, its foreign operations wing”.
According to Al Jazeera reporting, Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations sent a letter containing strong condemnation to the UN Security Council, demanding that the body fulfil its responsibility, uphold justice, and ensure such incidents never occur again.
The letter called for those responsible to be held accountable and stated that Israel should no longer be permitted to act with impunity.
