Iran and Qatar Discuss Implementation of US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding

Tehran (ANTARA) - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani have discussed the implementation of a memorandum of understanding to end the war between the United States and Iran, Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB reported on Wednesday. Gharibabadi led an Iranian delegation comprising representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Bank, and the Ministry of Agriculture. The two sides exchanged views on the implementation process of the memorandum of understanding and the challenges that will be faced in its execution. They also discussed strategies to accelerate the implementation of the US-Iran agreement. Trilateral talks between Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan also took place, focusing on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, IRIB reported. Gharibabadi stated that consultations are continuing within the working groups established following the Iran-US talks in Switzerland. The mediators are working to determine the time and venue for final agreement negotiations, which are scheduled to commence once all conditions are met. In the early hours of Thursday, 18 June, the US and Iran remotely signed a memorandum of understanding that arranges for the cessation of the military conflict that began on 28 February. The document also sets a deadline for the US to lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports and for Iran to restore shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
