Moscow – Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, has asserted that the United States is responsible for the deaths of children at a school in Minab, southern Iran.

“There is no doubt that it was an American attack. Now everyone is saying the attack was carried out by Tomahawk missiles, and these missiles belong to the US. There are some rumours suggesting that Iran itself carried out the attack, but US senators have stated that Iran does not possess such missiles. It is perfectly clear that America launched the attack,” Ambassador Jalali told RIA Novosti.

According to him, there is no distinction whether the attack was intentional or otherwise.

“These were children accompanied by their mothers and fathers. Going to school in the morning with hope and dreams and wanting to return home in the afternoon. This crime is a heavy blow to all Iranian citizens,” he said.

The US and Israel began attacking several targets in Iran on 28 February. On the first day of the conflict, one of the girls’ schools in Minab district, southern Iran, was bombed.

Iran’s government spokesperson, Fatemeh Mohajerani, told Sputnik that 168 pupils alongside 14 teachers and school staff were killed in the combined US-Israeli attack.

She added that Iranian authorities would take steps to honour the victims. Meanwhile, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Tomahawk missiles were used in the attack on the school.
