Iran Allows Trump to Choose: Accept Proposal or Impossible Military Operation

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard stated that US President Donald Trump is faced with a difficult choice: an “impossible” military operation or a “bad deal” with Tehran. According to AFP on Sunday (3/5/2026), negotiations between the two countries have reached a deadlock since the ceasefire was implemented on 8 April 2026. Only one round of direct peace talks has been held so far. Iranian news agencies Tasnim and Fars reported that Tehran has submitted a 14-point proposal to mediator Pakistan, but Trump quickly rejected it. “I will soon review the plan that Iran just sent to us, but I cannot imagine that it will be acceptable because they have not paid a sufficient price for what they have done to humanity and the world over the past 47 years,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform. US news site Axios reported, citing two sources informed about the proposal, that it sets “a one-month deadline for negotiations to reach an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, end the US naval blockade, and permanently end the wars in Iran and Lebanon.” In a statement, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard invited Trump to choose. “An impossible operation or a bad deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” they stated. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard emphasised that time is running out. “The space for US decision-making has narrowed,” they added. The day before, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi told diplomats in Tehran that “the ball is in the United States’ court to choose the path of diplomacy or to continue the confrontational approach.” Iran, he said, “is ready for both paths.”
