Iran Allows Iraqi Oil Tanker to Pass Through Strait of Hormuz
Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran has allowed the Agios Fanourios I oil tanker to pass through the Strait of Hormuz via a designated route. The tanker, carrying Iraqi oil, is heading to Nghi Son Port in Vietnam, according to Tasnim News Agency on Monday (11/5). On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched attacks against Iran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Subsequently, on 7 April, the US and Iran announced a ceasefire, followed by negotiations in Islamabad that ended without results. Trump then extended the ceasefire to give Iran time to submit an “integrated proposal”. On 3 May, Trump announced Operation “Project Freedom” to assist ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz to continue their journey. However, two days later, Trump decided to temporarily halt the operation to see if a peace agreement with Iran could be reached.
