Iran Accuses US of Terrorist-Like Behaviour in Attacks on Civilian Infrastructure

Tehran (ANTARA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei has accused the United States of behaving like terrorist groups, as attacks forming part of the country’s military aggression against Iran since 28 February 2026 deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure.

In a post on his X account on Saturday (18 July), Baqaei wrote that the Chabahar Maritime Watchtower, a civilian facility used for navigation and shipping safety, was deliberately targeted in a US attack on 16 June as part of the ongoing aggression that began on 28 February.

He said the US Defence Secretary proudly released footage of the tower’s collapse. According to Baqaei, if he were able to, the US official would also broadcast footage of a missile strike on a school in Minab and the massacre of civilians in Lamerd with the same pride.

In addition, Baqaei accused the US of once again attacking electricity and desalination pumping facilities at the Bunji village pier in Jask on Saturday night. The attack left more than 10,000 people without access to drinking water.

“For a country that once positioned itself as the global champion of order, liberalism, and the war on terrorism, proudly displaying images of destroyed bridges and civilian infrastructure has become its only remaining victory,” Baqaei said.

He went on to state that every destroyed bridge, tower, and civilian facility does not merely bring down steel and concrete, but also brings down the moral standing of the United States, along with the entire international legal order, and the claims of Western civilisation in the eyes of the world.

According to him, the question that must now be put to the United States and its allies has become very clear and simple: “What is the difference between what they have done in Chabahar, Minab, Lamerd, and Jask, and the acts of terrorism they have long used as justification for waging war and occupation?”
