iQOO 16 may feature a 200 MP main camera

iQOO 16 has been the subject of discussion since last week, with the latest rumours circulating suggesting that the smartphone will receive an upgrade to its main camera. The new information comes from technology leaker Smart Pikachu on Weibo, as reported by Gizmochina. According to Smart Pikachu, the device is currently being tested with a 200 MP main camera. By comparison, its predecessor, the iQOO 15, features a 50 MP main camera. Returning to iQOO 16, besides the main camera, the leaker also said the phone will include a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera, the same as its predecessor. Not only the camera details, Smart Pikachu also leaked information about an upgraded display. The iQOO 16 is believed to see a display resolution increase from the previous 1.5K to 2K. So far, that is the only information disclosed about its specifications, but given that the phone is a flagship, it should be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset and a large battery as well. Regarding price, with so many upgrades, there is a high likelihood of a price increase for the iQOO 16 in line with the initial rumours circulating about the smartphone. A price increase may also occur because the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, if rumours are true, will be built on a 2nm process. For comparison, the iQOO 15 was initially released at 4,199 yuan (Rp10.3 million); that suggests the iQOO 16 could be priced at over Rp10 million.
