The Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, officially inaugurated five commissioners of the NTB Information Commission for the 2025-2030 period. The inauguration ceremony was held at the NTB Governor’s Office on Thursday afternoon, 26 February 2026.

The five commissioners who were inaugurated are Sansuri, Armansyah Putra, Husna Fatayati, Suaeb Qury, and Sahnam. Sansuri and Suaeb Qury are known to be commissioners of the Information Commission from the previous period.

In his speech, Iqbal expressed hope that the commissioners would carry out their duties well and build strong synergy with the NTB Provincial Government to improve public information disclosure.

“Congratulations to the members of the Information Commission who have been inaugurated. We hope that they can carry out their duties well and build harmonious collaboration with the provincial government in order to improve transparency in NTB,” he said.

Iqbal admitted that based on previous survey results, there are still a number of aspects of information disclosure that need to be improved. Therefore, the former Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey invited the Information Commission to work with the NTB Communication and Information Office to improve existing shortcomings.

“We are aware that there are still things that need to be improved. In the future, let us work together to improve what is still lacking,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Information Commission from the previous period for their dedication and service. He hopes that the positive achievements can be maintained, while various shortcomings can be used as material for evaluation for future improvements.

Iqbal believes that the selection process to the appointment of 15 candidates for commissioners submitted to the NTB DPRD has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. He hopes that the Information Commission for the 2025-2030 period will further strengthen its commitment to realizing public information disclosure in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure.

“In accordance with the mandate of the law, every public body is obliged to disclose information to the public, except for information that is indeed excluded,” he explained.

In the digital era, Iqbal continued, the public demands information that is clear, accurate, and not misleading. The role of the Information Commission is not only to carry out the function of adjudicating information disputes, but also to be the driving force for a culture of transparency throughout the districts/cities in NTB.

He emphasized that the NTB Information Commission must be firm in resolving information disputes, independent, and free from any interests.

“I hope that the NTB Information Commission can be an institution that is firm in resolving information disputes and free from any interests,” he said.

In addition, the Information Commission is expected to build public literacy on public information disclosure and become a strategic partner of the government in providing public services that are open and accountable.

“Public trust is something we want. Without public trust, the wheels of government will be difficult to turn. Therefore, build synergy with all cross-sectors,” he concluded.
