Jakarta (ANTARA) - Amid the increasing adoption of digital banking services in Indonesia, security has become an increasingly decisive factor in consumers’ choices of digital banks. The 2026 Ipsos Indonesia survey shows that the public is not only seeking convenience and financial benefits but also prioritising a sense of safety when storing and managing their funds digitally. “The public’s growing attention to security aspects reflects the maturity of consumer behaviour in using digital financial services,” said Ipsos Indonesia Managing Director Hansal Savla in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. As the digital banking ecosystem in Indonesia develops, he continued, consumers increasingly understand that security is not just about data protection, but trust in products, service stability, ease of fund access, and transaction reliability are the main factors shaping their confidence in choosing a digital bank. He added that the survey results show guaranteed security systems and data privacy protection are the main reasons people choose a digital bank, with 65 per cent of respondents citing these factors as their primary consideration. This factor even ranks above various other benefits, including offers of promotions, discounts, and cashback, which were chosen by 54 per cent of respondents. In choosing a digital bank registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and guaranteed by the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), consumers not only consider the security features available at a digital bank but also the level of trust in the deposit products offered. “This shows that trust in deposit products is an important indicator in building a perception of security in the digital bank category,” he said. Consumers, he noted, tend to assess security based on their belief that the funds deposited can be managed properly and provide peace of mind. Besides the security aspect of the product, the application usage experience also plays an important role in shaping the perception of security. A stable application with minimal disruption provides more confidence for customers when carrying out daily banking activities. Service stability is one of the important elements influencing the level of consumer trust in a digital bank. A smooth user experience helps create a sense of security in every digital interaction made by the customer. Ease of managing and accessing funds is also a factor that strengthens public confidence in using digital banking services. “Consumers consider that an easy deposit withdrawal process and the availability of various tenor options can provide flexibility as well as comfort in managing their savings,” Hansal Savla stated. The survey was conducted by Ipsos in April 2026 involving 300 respondents across Indonesia, covering the Greater Jakarta area, non-Greater Jakarta areas in Java, and outside Java.
