IPO Survey Places Bahlil and Golkar Third in Ministerial Performance and Electability

The Indonesian Political Opinion survey has placed Energy and Mineral Resources Minister and Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia, along with the party he leads, in the top three positions across two different categories.

Bahlil ranked third in respondents’ assessment of the performance of Red and White Cabinet ministers with 32.0 percent, while Golkar Party placed third in political party electability with 10.4 percent.

IPO Executive Director Dedi Kurnia Syah said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday that public assessment of ministerial performance is linked to the popularity level of each figure.

“Public perception of ministers who are considered to be performing well is linear with popularity. Minister Purbaya occupies the top position, followed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in second place. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia is third,” he said.

Bahlil also placed third in popularity with 32.8 percent. Purbaya ranked first with 43.5 percent and Teddy second with 41.0 percent.

According to Dedi, public perception of the government and ministers is dynamic and can change in line with developments in socio-political conditions and government policy.

“Indeed, I think the public’s condition is always dynamic in providing assessments,” he said.

Golkar placed above the Democratic Party with 8.1 percent, PKB with 7.0 percent, PAN with 5.1 percent, PKS with 4.6 percent, and NasDem Party with 4.4 percent.

The IPO survey was conducted from 27 July to 3 August 2026, involving 1,200 respondents selected using a stratified multistage random sampling method.

The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent with a 95 percent confidence level.
