IPMG Partners with University of Indonesia's Faculty of Public Health to Develop Research-Based Pharmacy Talent
National healthcare system resilience depends heavily on the quality and innovation of human resources. To address the challenge of meeting the demand for expert talent in this sector, the International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group (IPMG) and the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (FKM UI), have formally signed a Cooperation Agreement for Certified Internship and Thesis Writing Programs in Public Health. The agreement was signed by IPMG Executive Director Ani Triana Rahardjo and FKM UI Dean Professor Indri Hapsari Susilowati earlier this week. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in preparing a generation of highly skilled professionals ready to navigate the dynamics of the global healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. The collaboration aligns with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s (Kemendikbudristek) Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programme, aimed at accelerating higher education innovation. Through this partnership, IPMG and its member companies provide exclusive internship opportunities for FKM UI students. Interns will receive direct guidance from research-based pharmaceutical industry experts and FKM UI academic supervisors. ‘Indonesia has ambitious goals to become a highly competitive healthcare sector nation. Therefore, IPMG is taking concrete steps to contribute to developing young talent who are not only job-ready but also internationally competitive. In addition to the internship programme, the collaboration opens avenues for broader cooperation between IPMG member companies and FKM UI’s academic community. Educational activities such as career days, factory visits, and knowledge-sharing sessions on the latest pharmaceutical innovations are planned to be held regularly. These initiatives aim to provide students with real-world insights into the research-based pharmaceutical industry, from drug discovery to product delivery to consumers. During the event, IPMG highlighted the significance of innovative medicines in Indonesia and the role of research-based pharmaceutical industries in both global and national healthcare systems. This presentation is part of IPMG’s efforts to enhance youth literacy and appreciation of the lengthy pharmaceutical innovation process, which ultimately impacts public quality of life. ‘Collaborating with IPMG is a strategic move by FKM UI to bridge academia and industry.
