IPMG partners with FKM UI to develop research-based pharmaceutical talent
International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group (IPMG) and the Faculty of Public Health at the University of Indonesia (FKM UI) have collaborated to develop research-based pharmaceutical talent to enhance competitiveness in the health sector.
FKM UI Dean Prof. Dr. Indri Hapsari Susilowati said the collaboration with IPMG is essential for connecting academic theory with industry reality. “This partnership is a strategic move by FKM UI to bridge academia and industry. Through this certified internship programme, our students gain not only hands-on experience but also a deep understanding of how research-based pharmaceutical industry contributes to public health,” she said.
The collaboration was marked by a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement on certified internships and final project writing in public health. The agreement was signed by Prof. Indri and IPMG Executive Director Ani Triana Rahardjo at UI Campus in Depok, West Java on 25 May.
This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s (Kemendikbudristek) Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programme, which aims to accelerate higher education innovation.
The programme specifically provides students with direct exposure to the research-based pharmaceutical industry ecosystem, beyond standard work placements. IPMG and its member companies offer exclusive internship opportunities for FKM UI students, with guidance from industry experts and FKM UI supervisors.
IPMG Chairperson Evie Yulin described the partnership as a long-term investment for a stronger Indonesian health future. “Indonesia aims to become a high-competitiveness health sector nation. Therefore, IPMG is taking concrete steps to cultivate young talent who are not only job-ready but also internationally competitive,” she said.
Evie added that IPMG is committed to being a strategic partner to government and academia in improving healthcare quality through high-quality, ethical medical innovation. Beyond internships, the collaboration opens wider opportunities for IPMG member companies and FKM UI academics to collaborate on educational activities such as career days, factory visits, and knowledge-sharing sessions on the latest pharmaceutical innovations.
These activities aim to provide students with real-world insights into the research-based pharmaceutical industry, from drug discovery to product delivery to consumers. IPMG also highlighted the importance of innovative medicines in Indonesia and the role of research-based pharmaceutical industry in global and national healthcare systems, as part of efforts to enhance youth literacy and appreciation for pharmaceutical innovation processes that directly impact public quality of life.
