iPhone Users Can Now Upgrade to iOS 27.2: Check Out the New Features
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Apple has officially released updates to its iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 operating systems. This is the first major update since the 27th-generation operating systems were initially launched last September.
The iOS 27.2 update is available to all iPhone models compatible with iOS 27, including the latest iPhone Duo series. iPadOS 27.2 is also available for supported iPads, including the newly introduced OLED-screen iPad mini.
In iOS 27.2, Apple has expanded Siri AI to several new languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
The Cupertino-based technology giant has also added user profiles to the Apple TV app, refreshed the Apple Music logo and branding, and introduced AI-powered suggestions in Messages that can integrate directly with Calendar and Reminders.
For users in the European Union, Apple has included new prompts for the App Tracking Transparency feature.

Siri AI enhancements (available on all iPhone 16 series models, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max)
Conversation memory: Siri AI can now remember previous conversations. Users can ask about information Siri provided earlier, such as a restaurant recommendation from the previous week.
Broader data integration: Siri AI can draw on various internal sources to provide accurate answers, including photos in Messages, guest lists in Calendar, voicemails and Safari search history.
Privacy controls (Excluded Apps): Users can choose which apps Siri, Search and AI suggestions may or may not access, all from a single settings menu.
Granular text selection: Users can now select and copy specific portions of a response from Siri.
Language expansion: Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Siri AI is not yet available in the European Union or mainland China.
Other features
Smart suggestions in Messages: Helps users take quick actions based on the context of a conversation, such as adding a dinner plan directly to Calendar.
Shared Albums refresh in Photos: Adds caption editing and comments to help prevent duplicate files, as well as reminders before an album expires.
SynthID watermark: Supports SynthID digital marking to detect whether an image was created or modified using generative AI in Photos and Image Playground.
Podcasts updates: The Home feature in Podcasts separates New Episodes and Continue Playing tabs, making it easier to keep track of content.
Games app updates: The Friends feature now provides context for friend recommendations and shows games recently played by other users.
Multi-user Apple TV profiles: Simple Profiles lets each family member have an individual profile with personalised viewing recommendations.
FaceTime feature: Supports adding a third-party sign-language interpreter or live captioner directly during a video call.
Release notes for iPhone Duo
For iPhone Duo owners, Apple has enhanced Siri AI so it can better understand users’ personal context.
The foldable device also now supports Apple Pencil and Edge Light, a feature that illuminates the user’s face during video calls. The update also includes Suggestions in Messages, bug fixes and security improvements.
Users can download iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 over the air by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Alongside these updates, Apple has released iOS 26.7.2, which focuses on fixing device security vulnerabilities.
