iPhone Fold Yet to Launch, Chinese Firms Prepare to Copy Its Design
Over the past few years, Apple has been rumoured to release a foldable iPhone, or iPhone Fold, featuring a wide screen concept rather than the elongated designs currently available on the market. It is not yet known when this foldable iPhone will be launched. However, several Chinese phone vendors are reportedly preparing to imitate the concept. Reports indicate that Vivo, Oppo, and Honor are developing foldable phones with wide screens, similar to the rumoured iPhone Fold design. Gadget tipster Smart Pikachu claims that Vivo is preparing the Vivo X Fold6 foldable phone. He did not explicitly state that it will feature a wide screen concept. “For those who like wide foldable designs, keep an eye on the Vivo X Fold6. The crease appears to have been improved, and it seems future models will bring even wider folds,” he said. As it is still a rumour, it is not known when Vivo’s foldable phone with a wide screen concept will be released. In addition to Vivo, Honor is also said to be taking a similar approach. Another gadget tipster, Guan Tongxue GiM, even claims that Honor has actually been preparing a foldable phone with a ‘book-like’ design for a long time. He did not detail the specifications, but he included an image purportedly representing Honor’s future foldable phone concept. From the image, three holes, likely camera sensors, can be seen embedded above the secondary screen. It is not yet known when this phone will be released. However, according to rumours, Honor will not launch it until early 2027, as reported by Gizmo China. Currently, its development status is said to be in the “evaluation” stage. There is no further information on Oppo’s wide-screen foldable phone, as compiled by KompasTekno from GSM Arena. Another Chinese phone brand, Huawei, has actually been ahead by releasing a foldable smartphone similar to the leaked iPhone Fold design. That phone is the Huawei Pura X Max, which was released in China last April.
