Jakarta (ANTARA) - Apple’s device manufacturer Foxconn is reported to have started the production testing phase for the foldable iPhone Fold ahead of its launch at the end of this year. Macrumors, on Monday (6/4) local time, reported that the information was revealed by Chinese technology leaker Instant Digital. This testing is the initial stage that the iPhone Fold will undergo before entering mass production. Apple is targeting the start of mass production for the foldable phone in July, provided no obstacles are found during the testing phase. Nevertheless, Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone Fold alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series at their annual event in September, with a separate release schedule. As Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Fold will feature a screen measuring around 5.5 inches when closed and 7.8 inches when opened. Apple is using a 4:3 aspect ratio for the phone, with a design resembling an iPad that is wider and shorter compared to other foldable phones on the market. In terms of design, the iPhone Fold has a thickness of only 4.5 millimetres when opened. To achieve such a slim body size, Apple has made several compromises, including using a three-lens configuration, meaning the telephoto lens will be absent from the phone. Additionally, the Face ID feature is likely not to be included due to space limitations for the TrueDepth sensor. Instead, Apple may adopt a side button with Touch ID, similar to that on the iPad. Apple has also minimised the crease on the iPhone Fold’s screen, making the fold mark almost invisible when opened.
