Prospective buyers of the iPhone Duo may have to wait until next year to get their hands on Apple’s latest product. Reports say high demand has pushed shipments of the company’s first foldable iPhone back to January 2027.

Apple’s first foldable handset has attracted strong interest. Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo in China reportedly sold out within seconds.

GizChina reported that Apple had made only a small number of units available for sale, with estimates putting the total at no more than 200,000.

Limited stock has left many buyers empty-handed. Reports say, however, that numerous scalpers managed to secure units and immediately put them up for sale at higher prices.

A 256GB iPhone Duo has appeared on resale platforms at a mark-up of more than US$1,900, taking its price to US$3,885 (Rp70 million).

The phone had initially been scheduled to ship in December. CNBC International reported that shipments have now been postponed until January 2027.

That means Apple will miss the period of heightened consumer spending around the Christmas and New Year holidays.

“We are working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as quickly as possible, and we will continue to accept orders online,” Apple told CNBC International.

The iPhone Duo was launched alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series last September. Pre-orders opened in the United States last Friday.

Prices start at US$1,999 (Rp36 million) for the 256GB model. The 512GB version costs US$2,199 (Rp39.6 million), while the 1TB model is priced at US$2,599 (about Rp48.8 million).

The foldable phone is just 5.2mm thick when unfolded. Both screens support a 120Hz refresh rate, and the inner display has an under-display camera.

Apple has also equipped the handset with an A20 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM. Its performance is reportedly comparable to that of the iPhone 18 Pro series.
