iPhone 19 Pro leaks: Quad-curved display and under-display Face ID

Apple is reportedly testing prototypes of the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Pro Max with a four-sided curved display module. Unlike standard curved designs that bend only on the left and right edges, this technology would also curve along the top and bottom edges, delivering a more extreme edge-to-edge visual effect and potentially improving grip. The move would be unusual given that several Chinese Android manufacturers once popularised curved screens but have recently shifted back to flat displays.

In addition to the physical redesign, Apple is said to be experimenting with hiding the Face ID components entirely beneath the display panel. If this technology is successfully implemented, the Dynamic Island currently known on iPhones could be replaced by a single punch-hole for the front camera.

Although under-display Face ID is considered highly likely, Apple’s biggest challenge remains the front-facing camera. Apple is known for stringent quality control over image capture. Under-Display Camera (UDC) technology available today, as used by competitors, often yields photos that are not as sharp due to the overlaying display pixel layer.

The year 2027 also marks two decades since the first iPhone was introduced by Steve Jobs in 2007, fueling speculation that the iPhone 19 Pro could be a special 20th-anniversary edition with a total design overhaul, and perhaps even a new, more iconic naming scheme.
