iPhone 18 Pro may feature different battery variants for China and US

Latest leaks reveal that Apple is preparing the iPhone 18 Pro with two different battery capacity variants for different country segments. According to reports from Gizmochina, tech leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) stated that the iPhone 18 Pro for the Chinese market will be equipped with a battery capacity of approximately 4,056 mAh, whereas the version intended for the US and global markets will have a larger capacity of around 4,288 mAh.

If this information is accurate, the battery capacity of the iPhone 18 Pro will see an increase compared to the previous generation, although Digital Chat Station predicts there will also be a price hike for the handset. In terms of photography, Apple is reportedly testing a variable aperture system for the main camera. This technology allows the lens aperture to be adjusted according to shooting conditions, which can improve the quality of photos and videos, particularly in low-light environments.

Furthermore, Apple is rumoured to maintain the triple rear camera configuration with 48-megapixel resolutions. The most significant changes will focus on the main camera, which is expected to receive new sensors and optical components. Digital Chat Station suggests that the combination of upgraded chipsets, cameras, and batteries could potentially drive device production costs higher. However, it remains unknown whether Apple will maintain competitive pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro, especially in the Chinese market, which is currently facing intense competition from local manufacturers. Regarding design, the iPhone 18 Pro is not expected to undergo major changes compared to its predecessor. Apple is said to be reserving significant design updates for the 20th-anniversary iPhone edition, rumoured to launch in 2027.
