iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Officially Released: Check Prices and Specifications

Apple has officially launched its latest flagship line, the iPhone 1lag 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, during a special event held early Thursday (10/9). This launch marks a historic moment as it signifies the debut of Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, who officially takes the baton from Tim Cook.

Under Ternus’s leadership, the Cupertino-based tech giant made a bold move by releasing the ‘Pro’ models exclusively first, without the presence of the regular or ‘Plus’ variants in the first wave.

In terms of aesthetics, the new line appears fresher with more subtle and elegant colour options. Moving away from the striking orange accents of previous generations, the iPhone 18 Pro series is now available in deep black, silver, glacier blue, and a unique burgundy.

Siri Becomes Smarter with On-Device AI

The artificial intelligence sector has received a massive upgrade. Apple has integrated Apple Intelligence capabilities into Siri to make it far more contextual, natural, and highly privacy-focused through on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute.

Siri is now capable of deeply reading personal context across various built-in applications such as Mail and Messages, and is even ready to execute cross-app commands, including those for third-party applications. Users can interact seamlessly via voice, text, or the new Siri interface on the home screen.

Currently, Apple Intelligence supports 16 global languages. For the AI-based Siri assistant, an English beta version is already available, to be followed by support for Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, and Portuguese this coming October.

Powered by 2nm Architecture A20 Pro Chip

The monstrous performance of this series is fully supported by the A20 Pro chip with 2nm architecture. This chipset is equipped with a 6-core CPU, including two new super cores, claimed to be desktop-class and the fastest in the smartphone industry with a performance increase of up to 20%, alongside four new efficiency cores.

The graphics sector has also been boosted via a new 7-core GPU that offers a graphics performance jump of up to 40%, increased bandwidth, and a new neural accelerator with 8FP calculations that are 2 times faster to accelerate third-party Large Language Models (LLM) directly on the device.

Furthermore, Apple has included a second Neural Engine, bringing the total to 32 cores.

To manage the heat from such extreme performance, Apple has redesigned the silicon packaging using a custom approach similar to the M-series chips. This design connects the silicon and memory directly to a vapour chamber to boost thermal management efficiency.

Battery Efficiency Sets New Records

Thanks to the efficiency of the A20 Pro chip, the iPhone 18 Pro has achieved a significant leap in battery life. Interestingly, despite the iPhone 18 Pro having a more compact body, the device is capable of matching the battery durability of the Pro Max version.

Specifically, the iPhone 18 Pro is claimed to last up to 24 hours for normal use and 36 hours for video playback. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro Max has recorded the largest battery endurance in iPhone history, lasting up to 30 hours of normal use and reaching 45 hours for video playback.

Charging is also faster; 15 minutes of wired charging can fill the battery to 50%, and just 5 minutes of charging is enough to play 6 hours of video.

48 MP Fusion Camera with Variable Aperture

The most highlighted improvement is in the photography sector. The iPhone 18 Pro is armed with a new 48-megapixel fusion main camera equipped with a variable aperture feature for professional-level creative control.

To achieve this, Apple designed a complex mechanical system consisting of six laser-cut blades, each thinner than a human hair, made of a special polymer composite to ensure a perfect balance of mass, flexibility, and durability.

The aperture can adjust automatically; when low-light conditions are detected, the diaphragm opens wider to absorb 50% more light. Video recording has also become more professional with support for 4K resolution in Dolby Vision HDR format in Time-lapse mode.

Pro Controls are now available to provide full manual control over white balance, histogram, shutter speed, and aperture for both photos and videos. Additionally, there is on-device AI-based smart focus tracking to accurately lock onto a subject even if they momentarily move out of the frame.

Addressing the issue of digital image manipulation, Apple introduced a new security feature called Apple Reference Image. The main camera will immediately sign photo data at the pixel level the moment the shutter button is pressed. The Private Cloud Compute feature then processes this signed data into an unalterable image format in the Photos app, similar to the concept of a “digital negative” in analog photography.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Prices

The iPhone 18 Pro is priced starting from US$1,199 (approximately Rp20 million) for the 256GB capacity, while the Pro Max version starts from US$1,299 (approximately Rp22 million). A 2TB storage option is now also available.

Pre-orders begin on 12 September 2026. It remains unclear when this device will be brought to Indonesia. We shall wait and see!
