IPC TPK Panjang Records 73.7 Per Cent Surge in Container Traffic in June
IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) Panjang, part of the Pelindo Group, recorded a 73.7 per cent surge in container traffic in June 2026, driven by increased import-export activities and the strengthening of domestic logistics services in Lampung.
“We recorded a brilliant performance in mid-2026, booking a surge in container traffic of 73.7 per cent in June 2026 compared to the same period the previous year,” said Daniel Setiawan, Senior Manager of Corporate Secretariat at IPC TPK, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
He noted that this significant increase was triggered by high trading activity in the Lampung region and its surroundings, reflected in the rapid growth of international container traffic for the export and import sectors, as well as the strengthening of logistics interconnection for the domestic sector. He added that this growth confirms that Panjang Port is playing an increasingly strategic role as the primary gateway for goods at the southern entrance of Sumatra.
“The extraordinary surge in container traffic this June is a tangible result of the company’s commitment to responding adaptively to logistics market dynamics,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that the primary factors driving the surge on the ground were specifically contributed by the addition of one ad hoc vessel by Pulau Laut Lines, which successfully addressed international transport capacity needs, as well as the launch of a new service by PT Buaya Mas Prima, which had a direct impact on increasing inter-island domestic container traffic.
He further noted that this operational success was fully supported by the reliability of the terminal’s loading and unloading systems and close collaboration between IPC TPK, shipping partners, and all port stakeholders. He expressed hope that the expansion of shipping networks by these partners could drive sustainable regional economic growth, while simultaneously strengthening IPC TPK Panjang’s contribution to facilitating smooth supply chains at the southern logistics gateway of Sumatra.
